About South Orange

SOPAC (South Orange Performing Arts Center) offers a wonderful opportunity for great live entertainment from concerts and dance ensembles to comedy and much more. During the summer, residents flock to Flood’s Hill for free outdoor concerts in July and movie night in August. Food trucks line the street for easy dinner. In the winter, the very same spot is packed on snow days with kids sledding.
South Orange shares a school system with the neighboring town of Maplewood. There are several elementary schools, 2 middle schools and a shared high school. Columbia High School offers among other things, wonderful classes in film making and journalism and is the birth place of Ultimate Frisbee. Their fencing team is extraordinary and students often go on to top colleges and universities. South Orange is also home to the main campus of Seton Hall University.
