This area is so beautiful this time of year. Want to enjoy the leaves changing color and the unseasonably warm temperatures while getting some outdoor exercise? Come check out some spots very close to our home. Here are 3 of our favorites:
- South Mountain Reservation. Enter at the top of Claremont Avenue in Maplewood where you can park your car. Walk directly up into the reservation, take a left and follow the path. Not only will you be able to enjoy your immediate surroundings, you can stop and take in a view of NYC along the way.
- The Reservoir at Essex County Recreation Complex. Park in the lot off of Northfield Avenue in West Orange. When you enter the waterfront you may think that you have stepped into upstate NY or Vermont. There is a 1.7 mile walking path around the water that is surrounded by tall trees. It’s a beautiful and peaceful spot.
- A Neighborhood Walk. If you are in the mood for something a bit more vigorous, consider a walk around the neighborhoods. Begin at the Baird Center in South Orange and head up Floods Hill. Continue up any of the beautiful streets to Wyoming Avenue. Along the way you can admire the architecture in addition to the foliage. Good chance you will work up a sweat and the downhill walk back will be a welcome change.
